EOS is discontinuing eos.net email addresses effective July 21st, 2017

We are giving all our eos.net email clients notice, that come our renewal date of July 21st, 2017 with Hyper Office, we will be discontinuing the eos.net mailboxes.  It was a difficult decision to come to, but given the difficulty we have had over the last two years with email, and the fact that I am working an additional job that I can’t take time off from to do a move to a new provider, I have decided it is time to let it go.

You will need to set up a new email address with another provider.  I can offer provider suggestions, but that is up to you where you get your new email address from.  This site also has a number of articles that will make the transition easier, including how to set up an autoresponder to let people know you are changing email addresses, and a short list of some common internet services that you will need to change your email address with.

Please note, EOS will continue to offer web hosting and domain registration and renewal.

Backing up your email

If you are set up as IMAP to download your email to a email client, here are some articles with advice on how to back up your email on your computer:

Another option with GMail is you can set it to pickup email via POP3 from the Hyper Office server.  Be advised this takes time, you can’t do this last minute, and it will only get your inbox, not sent mail or subfolders.  There is a description of how to do this at: https://www.lifehacker.com.au/2013/12/how-to-change-your-email-address-without-screwing-everything-up/

Mac Mail – make a copy “On My Mac”.  Don’t copy 1000s of messages (i.e. select all) at a single time, do 100 at a time and give it time between copies.  You can do this in all of the subfolders as well.

EOS Email forwarding and Autoresponder

Prior to the July 21st, 2017 discontinuation of your eos.net mailbox, we recommend you consider forwarding your email to a new address you set up (note this will only work until July 21st!), and that you set up an autoresponder to advise people who send you email that your address is changing.  This video walks you through how to do this using the HyperOffice webmail interface at webmail.eos.net.

Updating your email address on various services

EOS is discontinuing it’s eos.net email addresses for all clients effective July 21st, 2017.  This post is to help clients make changes on some of the common services out there that rely upon their email address.  This is by no means exhaustive!  I have barely scratched the surface.  Remember you also need to email all of your contacts (family, friends, business associates, etc.) with your new email address.
